New Town High School students had an engaging and informative morning at the Titan Talks, where they had the opportunity to explore careers in biotechnology through EmpowerBio. This event was coordinated and organized by Ms Kathryn Duncan, career navigator at the school. EmpowerBio conducted an interactive session that engaged over 50 students, featuring hands-on activities, guest speakers, and insights into various career pathways in the field.
Amrita Madabushi, the founder of EmpowerBio, led the session, sharing her inspiring journey from biochemistry researcher to biotechnology educator. She facilitated a hands-on activity that involved building nucleotide models, demonstrating how atoms serve as the fundamental building blocks of DNA. This collaborative team exercise not only deepened students' understanding of molecular biology but also fostered teamwork and problem-solving skills.
